Snowflake Data Engineer
Snowflake Data Engineer
Contract RemoteWe're a fast-moving team building a modern data platform for a ~$120M Amazon-native consumer brand pivoting hard into DTC. The stack is live, the data is flowing, and there's more work than hands. We need a Snowflake engineer who can ship.
| Engagement | Flexible scheduling with up to 15h per week |
| Compensation | $75-$80/h CAD |
| Duration | Initial 3–6 months, with strong likelihood of extension |
| Availability Requirements | Consistent overlap with Eastern Time (ET) business hours |
| Communication | Fluent English (spoken and written) |
What you'll do
Build and maintain ELT pipelines in Snowflake — Snowpark Python stored procedures, Tasks, Dynamic Tables, External Access Integrations
Own integrations with e-commerce APIs: Shopify, Meta Ads, TikTok Shop, Amazon SP-API, GA4, ReCharge
Work across a medallion architecture (Bronze → Silver → Gold) with reporting views feeding live dashboards
Build and iterate on Streamlit-in-Snowflake dashboards for marketing, supply chain, and exec stakeholders
Debug real production issues: suspended dynamic tables, stale task chains, API auth weirdness, duplicate data — and fix root causes, not symptoms
Add value beyond the brief: derived metrics, business logic, data quality checks nobody asked for but everybody needs
What we're looking for
Strong Snowflake fundamentals: Dynamic Tables, Tasks, Streams/change tracking, Snowpark, warehouses, RBAC
Solid Python and SQL — you can write a stored procedure that signs an HMAC request, paginates an API, and merges into bronze without breaking a sweat
E-commerce data experience is a big plus (marketplace APIs, ad platforms, order/inventory/COGS modeling)
Pragmatic over precious: we chose Dynamic Tables over dbt on purpose. Speed-to-outcome wins here
Self-directed: you'll get a problem and a Slack thread, not a Jira epic
Comfortable talking directly to non-technical stakeholders (marketing, supply chain, finance)
What we're not
No heavy process, no governance theater, no six-week sprint ceremonies
Not a "maintain legacy ETL" role — everything here is less than a year old
Not looking for someone who needs a platform team. You are the platform team (with us)
Nice to have
Streamlit / data app development
Airbyte or similar EL tooling
Cortex Analyst / semantic models
Experience with Amazon FBA/MCF, TikTok Shop, or Meta Graph API specifically
